""After retiring from political life, I want to enter the kollel to study," said MK Amsalem, who grew up in an observant home and studied in a yeshiva in his youth. "This is my fantasy, and with God's help I will make it come true.".

He added: "Without the spirit, the people of Israel are not worth a pound. The F-35 plane is in its place, its dignity is laid, but without the Jewish soul - it is only a matter of time until we crumble and shatter into pieces.".

On assimilation, he said: "In my opinion, it is the most important and most dangerous issue in the Jewish people. In American Jewry, it is only a matter of time before anyone who is not Orthodox is assimilated. This could also happen to us in Israel. Today, there are hundreds of thousands in the State of Israel who think they are Jews. We need to deal with this and convert them. This is a ticking time bomb within the State of Israel.".

He opposes Minister Matan Kahane's kashrut reform: "Reform is being done in a canning factory, not in Jewish values. It's the destruction of kashrut. Kahane and Bennett are looking for headlines for themselves, and along the way they don't care about destroying institutions that have existed for decades.".
