Mayor of Tel Aviv-Jaffa, Ron Huldai: "For four years, Rabbi Ovadia Yosef served as the Chief Rabbi of the city of Tel Aviv-Jaffa, but his spirit always remained in our city, a city of Jewish unity, of 'all Israel is friends' and 'Israel is guarantor of each other.' And this is precisely the line that characterizes Rabbi Ovadia's enormous decisive work - a line of embracing rulings that will increase unity in the Jewish people. Rabbi Ovadia is not with us - but his legacy and Torah are with us."'
Deputy Mayor of Tel Aviv-Yafo and representative of the Shas movement in the municipality, Elchanan Zevulun, who led the process to establish the sign: "As Maran's envoy to the Tel Aviv-Yafo City Council, I was happy to see the sign that was recently placed at the entrance to the house of Maran Rabbenu Ovadia Yosef ztk"l by the municipality.
""This is a decision that deserves all praise and it joins his commemoration in the municipal prize for halachic writing, the 'Rabbi Ovadia Yosef Prize.' Maran was the father of Israel, left his halachic and Torah mark in an unparalleled manner and was a bridge between many groups in Israeli society. Commemorating the place of his residence during his tenure in the city is most fitting for future generations."'
