Initially, the meeting, which was supposed to take place this morning, was postponed, but it was later decided to hold the meeting.

The official explanation for the postponement: a strike by Civil Administration employees.

However, the Civil Administration Employees' Committee, who are employed by the Ministry of Defense, although they are not legally allowed to strike, has been in contact with the Ministry of Finance in an attempt to resolve the crisis and convene the Planning Council today to approve construction in Judea and Samaria.

Indeed, after Civil Administration employees reached an agreement with the Ministry of Finance and stopped the sanctions, the Supreme Planning Council will meet at 1:00 PM to approve approximately 3,000 housing units.

Incidentally, a similar meeting is planned for Sunday to approve more than a thousand housing units for Palestinians in Area C.

Last night, the US administration sent strong messages to Israel against the construction permits. The US State Department even issued an official statement that read: "The administration expresses deep concern about Israel's intention to advance a move to build thousands of new housing units in Judea and Samaria. The US firmly opposes this move, which runs counter to the US effort to reduce tensions in the region.".

The chairwoman of the Eretz Israel lobby in the Knesset, MK Orit Struk, criticized the conduct of the Prime Minister's Office. "Anyone who did not resolve the labor dispute in the Civil Administration in the summer should not be surprised when a labor strike breaks out in the fall.".

She added: "What are the chances that this expected step was not known in advance to Naftali Bennett? And what are the chances that he did not know in advance about the Biden administration's strong protest? So Naftali, please take these two goats out and let them build in Judea and Samaria.".
