Conflict in the coalition over the citizenship law: Against the backdrop of ongoing talks between Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked and MK Simcha Rotman of Religious Zionism on the details of a new citizenship law, senior officials in the center-left bloc in the coalition make it clear that they will not support the move.

According to a report by Ze'ev Kam in Kan News, the sources said that as long as Shaked does not fulfill her commitments to Meretz and Ra'am for their support in the vote on the previous citizenship law, there will be no agreement in the coalition to vote on a new citizenship law.

Two and a half months ago, Shaked pledged, in exchange for Meretz and Ra'am's support in the vote on the previous citizenship law, to approve hundreds of applications for family reunification by Palestinians and Arab-Israelis, as well as to establish a committee that would examine relief for couples who did not receive citizenship approval due to family reunification.

Now, as Shaked tries to re-promote the citizenship law, even within Yesh Atid they are threatening that without fulfilling the previous commitments, the new citizenship law will not be brought to a vote.

Minister Shaked's office declined to comment.
