Will the Likud movement primaries be canceled? According to a report by political commentator Amit Segal, there is progress in Prime Minister Netanyahu's efforts to elect the Likud list to the Knesset in a 'regular committee'.

According to Segal's report, what began as a "goat" for the purpose of receiving a few armors is gaining momentum, for two reasons:

One - the retirement of seven Likud Knesset members during the last term. Second - the apparent understanding that the list will be maintained with one or two exceptions. Third - serious problems revealed in the Comptroller's report on an illegal mass census in the movement.

The process taking shape: A committee with the participation of mayors and public figures will determine the order of the list up to 32nd place, while party chairman Netanyahu will be able to place seven candidates on his own ticket.

In a lengthy discussion held yesterday, Netanyahu said that the spending on the primaries - 12 million shekels - is in fact a contribution to the campaign of Eisenkot and Bennett, because of the radicalization it will entail, which is already visible in the Knesset and due to the election of problematic figures. "No names were given, but it was clear to everyone who it was," Segal wrote.

The move requires approval by a simple majority in the Likud's Constitution Committee, the Secretariat, and the Conference.

Political reporter Dafna Liel noted: "It will be difficult for Netanyahu to create a dramatic change in the Likud list, but this is probably the safest way to ensure that at least 2 or 3 will fly - and he will be able to try to claim that the list is more nationalistic.""
