More than 1300 die in the fourth wave • The ministers of the Corona Cabinet, which met tonight (Sunday), for the first time in about a month, decided on the easing of restrictions starting today: Libraries are exempt from the green label, so that borrowing books does not require a green label. Museums will also be exempt so that classes can come to their doors in a capsule format.
The ministers dispersed without a vote being held on the exclusion of restaurants and attractions in open areas.
The obligation to scan the barcode for the green card will only apply from Tuesday. Enforcement of the new card will start from Thursday.
Data presented in the discussion indicates that the fourth wave is beginning to decline, which prompted the ministers to discuss the easing measures recommended by the Ministry of Health, but they were not approved.
Among the reliefs recommended by the ministry: the cancellation of the green badge requirement for events in open areas.
Another proposal that has been made is to exempt children aged 12 and under, who cannot be vaccinated, from the requirement to present a green card, so that they would not be required to present negative tests upon entry to events.
During the discussion, the professionals presented the Prime Minister and the ministers with a focused picture of the coronavirus situation in Israel, with an emphasis on the incidence in Arab society and the extent of vaccination. Accordingly, an action plan was presented on the subject.
A statement issued after the meeting stated: "Cabinet members emphasized that the government strategy, according to which the economy is kept open and the government is taking a series of actions to prevent the imposition of a lockdown and sweeping restrictions, is working, hence the success in managing the fourth wave." It should be noted that despite the high death toll, the cabinet defines the failure to manage the fourth wave as a "success.".
Below are the cabinet decisions:
- Mandatory scanning of the new green certificate by reading the barcode at the entrance to businesses starting Tuesday, Tishrei 29, 5782.
Enforcement will begin on Thursday, October 7, 2021, Sunday, Baashaun 5782.
- Excluding museums, so that organic classes in a capsule format can come through their doors without a corona test.
- Excluding municipal libraries, so that borrowing books will not require presenting a green card.
