The Likud secretariat is expected to approve a resolution next week that will prevent Knesset members who have left the movement from returning to it for the next eight years, according to a proposed resolution published today (Thursday).

The move, first reported on Kan News, is intended to prevent Gideon Saar, Ze'ev Elkin, Sharan Haskel and other Knesset members from running for the party in the future - if they so wish.
The decision will be made following a demand from senior party officials - including MKs Miki Zohar, Nir Barkat and Yisrael Katz, and other MKs, who demanded that the decision be moved forward out of fear that after the Netanyahu era, members of 'New Hope' would try to return to Likud.
The proposed resolution states: "The Likud Secretariat, with the consent of the movement's chairman, may shorten this period in exceptional circumstances and for special reasons that it will specify in its resolution.".
