Shivt Zion Friedman, a resident of the Muslim Quarter in the Old City of Jerusalem, was attacked yesterday (Tuesday) by three minority boys after she marched through the Nablus Gate with an Israeli flag in her hand.
Want to know how I became a manager with a bombshell salary without leaving home?
The attack occurred yesterday evening, when Shivt Zion, 20, was walking through the Nablus Gate, as she does every day - with a flag in her hand.
After a few minutes, three minority boys, aged 15, emerged, and one of them snatched the flag from his hand and started running. Return to Zion did not give up and started running after him. The boy managed to evade and threw the flag to a high place in the Old City.
Shivbat Zion called the police, and indeed within a few minutes the police arrived at the scene. "In this case, the treatment was serious," she says in a conversation with Haredim 10. "I was unable to run 200 km/h and catch him. He threw the flag on the floor, when I came to pick up the flag, he managed to pick it up again, and threw it on a roof in the Old City, and they ran away...""
Shivt Zion emphasizes: "I could have moved on, called on someone to take down the flag and moved on. But I don't want this to pass in silence. There is an attack on me and the flag here.".
Jerusalem area detectives and a Border Guard patrol took the case seriously - and about twenty minutes after the attack, two of the rioters were arrested. "The police used the cameras deployed in the Old City and noticed that the attackers had returned to the Nablus Gate - where they were arrested.".
The two rioters were taken to the police station for questioning, and police forces took down the flag, which was returned to Shivat Zion.
She later reported to the Merhav David police station in the capital and filed a complaint. "The complaint was treated with the seriousness it should be. It's clear that he needs to be punished. The fact that they spent a night at the police station is significant to me. He knows that if he attacks a Jew, it won't go unnoticed.".
It should be noted that on previous occasions when Shivat Zion was attacked by rioters, she was accused of being provocative when she walked around with a flag in her hand. "If this had happened a month ago, maybe that would have been the treatment, classic victim blaming. But this time the police conducted themselves well, and hence it is in court.".
It should be noted that Shivt Zion and her family are verbally attacked on a daily basis, and in the past month she has been attacked several times, including having stones thrown at her.
Last Thursday, at 3:30 in the morning, during his speech in the plenum, MK Itamar Ben-Gvir announced that he was looking for a match for "Nechama Dina" and "Shibat Zion" - and called on singles to contact his office.
What do you think about what Ben Gvir did?
"I wasn't prepared for this, I knew he would speak in the plenary session about Nechama Dina, who asked him to find a match for her. I didn't ask, and that really surprised me. My first reaction? I laughed, I took it in a light and amusing way.".
Since when have they contacted you?
"A lot of people are applying, the party's public relations team is working hard. So far, there is nothing serious. Itamar hasn't said what our demands are, a lot of irrelevant applications.".
