The coronavirus outbreak is on the decline, but a mask is still required in closed spaces. Remember?
Last time, Sa'ar did not recommend anyone to the president - which was one of the factors that decided that the mandate ultimately passed to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Sa'ar's decision is expected to increase the number of recommenders for Lapid to receive the mandate to 51. This, after the number of recommenders for him from the previous round of consultations, which stood at 45, is not expected to change, as Blue and White, Labor, Meretz and Yisrael Beiteinu intend to continue supporting the Yesh Atid chairman.
The assessment is that after the New Hope decision, the president is expected to impose the mandate on Lapid.
On the other hand, it appears that the Likud and the Right-wing bloc do not intend to recommend Bennett.
The Likud statement at midnight tonight said: "Due to Bennett's refusal to commit to a right-wing government, which would have certainly led to the formation of a government with the addition of additional Knesset members, Prime Minister Netanyahu has now returned the mandate to the president.".
