Yisrael Beiteinu Chairman, MK Avigdor Lieberman, vetoed the possibility of Naftali Bennett heading the 'Boycott Bloc' - and receiving the mandate to form a government. This is according to a report by Yisrael Hayom commentator Matti Tochfeld, according to senior officials involved in the talks.

According to the report, the same sources say that there is a strong axis between Yair Lapid and Lieberman, and that the two are completely coordinated and neither can move forward without the other's consent.

The same sources also claim that Lapid considered having Naftali Bennett form the government, but Lieberman stopped the move and vetoed it.

In closed-door talks, Lieberman explained his decision and said that it was impossible for Bennett to be awarded the prime ministership as head of a party with seven seats, the same number as Yisrael Beytenu's seats.

Avigdor Lieberman responded to the report: "Mati Tochfeld, I appreciate your consistency. To this day, you have not managed to write a single word of truth about Avigdor Lieberman or Yisrael Beiteinu. This is probably why you did not bother to contact us and get a response. There is no veto and no guarantee.".
