After the widest opening of the economy since the outbreak of the pandemic: The people of Israel, who were just craving a little normality, celebrated today (Friday) in droves.

In Israel, speeding is the norm: Why do we drive fast?

SHBA - Automated Banking Services, the operator of the national credit card payment system, recorded an increase of more than 15 percent in credit card spending during today's rush hour, compared to the corresponding figure last Friday.

According to a report on Channel 12, between 9:00 and 13:00, credit transactions totaling 538.9 million shekels were processed through the Shava systems. For comparison, last Friday, expenses totaling 468.3 million shekels were recorded during rush hour.

The busiest minute for spending during rush hour today was 12:15, when card spending totaled 3.2 million shekels.

The Sheba explains that the reason for the increase in expenses was, of course, due to the full opening of commerce in the economy at the beginning of the week, shopping ahead of the Passover holiday, and also the fact that there are more Israelis in the country than before the coronavirus, who, unlike previous years, cannot travel abroad during this period to shop.
