This evening (Monday), an unedited segment from a video in which MK Ayelet Shaked participated was distributed on social media, which was intended to raise awareness of violence against women - as part of a project for 'Women's Day'.
In Israel, speeding is the norm: Why do we drive fast?
In the video, Shaked tries to sing and fakes it - which of course immediately became the subject of jokes and imitations.
Shaked did not remain indifferent to the noise created around the video, and posted a tweet on Twitter:
""I won't be a singer anymore, I'm staying in politics. I volunteered for a project in honor of Women's Day to raise awareness of violence against women. Each woman sang a line with music. Someone from a competing party got the raw material and, in order to hurt me, leaked it without the music. At least I raised awareness of violence against women.".
In a post on her Facebook account, she humorously stated:
""Warning to the public: In the last hour, a not-so-easy-to-watch clip has been released in which I sing, if you can define it that way.
""It turns out that I won't be a singer anymore (although I'm not that fake), but this is a somewhat malicious leak of raw material, made by someone from a competing party, from a Women's Day project that I took part in, which was intended to raise awareness of violence against women. So if my fakes are needed to address this important issue, that's fine too.".
""The original clip with the music is now on my Instagram story. Find the differences.".
The post quickly garnered thousands of likes and hundreds of comments, with many users choosing to compliment the MK.
