The sudden decision by the Corona Cabinet to cancel public transportation services today to Jerusalem left tens of thousands of families with their children, stuck on the roads, in traffic jams, some at risk to their safety, without possible planning and without an adequate transportation solution, until these hours.
There is no other way to define this than as selective treatment of the ultra-Orthodox.
Because, unfortunately, in contrast, we saw abject helplessness and a complete lack of enforcement at market parties in Tel Aviv, Haifa, and more.
In light of the difficult scenes of thousands of people being taken off buses and forced to walk for hours, we will demand explanations for this decision, and we will not pass it on to the agenda.
Alongside the transportation scandal in the capital, there is wild and well-planned incitement against the Haredim, as if we - members of the Haredi public - received benefits and discounts from the Exceptions Committee when entering and exiting Israel.
This is a vicious blood libel that has no basis in reality. Thousands of Haredim were rejected by the Exceptions Committee just like other sectors, and some were also approved.
Worst of all, of course, is the permission given to hundreds of athletes to land in Israel for international competition, while thousands of citizens remain stranded around the world.
My office staff has also received many inquiries from citizens in distress, from all populations and sectors. The attempt to paint those entering as mostly Haredi is political, with the aim of discrediting and defaming the Haredi public.
It is a shame and disgrace to cast blame on an entire public based on speculation and assumptions by a few media figures, who are known for their hatred of the ultra-Orthodox.
I call on other fair and honest media people not to be dragged into these vicious slanders.
