A new legend from the WhatsApp slanderers - and this time the victim is the Minister for Senior Citizens, MK Uri Orbach from the Jewish Home.
This time in the plot: The minister supposedly wrote a post on his Facebook page that defamed the Haredi public in light of the death of Zeev Lessinger, a 13-year-old boy from the city of Elad, who was killed during a family trip to Nahal David in the Ein Gedi Nature Reserve.
According to the plot, Orbach wrote that the Haredi public "did not lift a finger for Operation Protective Edge," and that it was "Haredi audacity and audacity to go and walk contrary to all instructions with Shabbat shoes at such a dangerous time from a security perspective.".
""Where is the shame of the Haredim? Surely the state will still pay millions to the family whose son walked in Shabbat shoes.".
Shocking? Well, it's a vile plot. Auerbach didn't write it.
As you may recall, three months ago, a 'WhatsApp boy' posted that he was seriously ill. Orbach, who was hospitalized for a medical procedure, found himself dealing with a wave of rumors, supposedly that he was hospitalized in serious condition. This was after the boy spread that "the Prime Minister visited Minister Uri Orbach, who is hospitalized in serious condition.".
The boy's confusion stemmed from his visit to the Prime Minister's hospital to his former chief of staff and current editor-in-chief of the Makor Rishon newspaper, the late Uri Elitzur.
And this is what Auerbach wrote on his Facebook page:
""I've been hospitalized for a few days for a not-too-complicated medical procedure. I'm doing well, B.E., and the doctors are even joking with me.".
""And now imagine what I'm busy with right now, instead of resting a bit? Dispelling rumors and calming my fans. Unbelievable.".
How do Jews who claim to be observant of Torah and commandments allow themselves to do what no secular, religious, or ordinary person journalist dares to do?
"Then may we be healthy, and may God send us all healing of the body, and to the gossipers – healing of the soul.".
