The company will launch a software update at the beginning of the new year that will cause the application to not work on tens of millions of devices around the world.
According to the company, the goal of the move is to invest maximum effort into improving the application in the latest versions of the operating systems.
Which devices will be forced to say goodbye to WhatsApp?
These are iPhone models with versions older than iOS 9. That is, all older models, including the iPhone 4.
The app will also not support Android devices with a version older than 4.0.3 - such as the Samsung Galaxy S2 or the Lg Optimus Black.
As a result, owners of these devices will not be able to download the app, create a new account, or verify an existing account from another device.
Therefore, it's a good idea to upgrade your device now, or at least back up your history to Google's cloud so you don't lose all your information and messages.
