The deceased, zt"l, fell ill with a serious illness several years ago and suffered from it for many years. Several weeks ago, he contracted the coronavirus, and since then his condition has deteriorated, and on Saturday evening he passed away.
The late Rabbi Baruch Sorotskyn was born to his father, the Gaon Rabbi Baruch Sorotskyn, Rosh Yeshiva Telz in Cleveland, Ohio, and a member of the Council of Torah Scholars of the Agoyi in the United States, and to his mother, Rebbetzin Rachel, may God have mercy on him. He was named after his great-uncle, the Gaon Rabbi Eliyahu Meir Bloch, Rosh Yeshiva Telz in Lithuania and Rosh Yeshiva Telz in Cleveland.
When he reached his peak, he married his wife, the daughter of the late Rabbi Shmuel Birnbaum, Rosh Yeshiva Mir in New York.
About 30 years ago, he founded the 'Tiferet Baruch' yeshiva in Springfield.
His students paid tribute to him and spoke of his immense devotion to Torah: "He was a role model for every student in the yeshiva and was admired by all. His profound lessons became well-known and crowds attended them.".
He is survived by his brothers: Rabbi Yitzhak Sorotzkin of Lakewood, Mt. Yivta, and Rabbi Binyamin Sorotzkin, head of the Ateret Shlomo kollel in Jerusalem. His brother-in-law: Rabbi Aryeh Shulman, rabbi of Kiryat Yearim - Telz Stone. His nephew, the Harshab Sorotzkin, head of the Ateret Shlomo institutions.
His brother-in-law, the rabbi Yaakov Busel, zt"l, Rosh Yeshiva "Rabbeinu Yaakov Yosef" in Edison, New Jersey, passed away in the month of Cheshvan after contracting the coronavirus.
