The report on the HIX website tells the story of Melissa Kadick, a 39-year-old mother of one, who was last seen in the early morning hours of November 13, when she left her home in Sydney around 5:30 a.m. for a run.
Later that day, Kadik's family noticed that she had not returned, and that she had disappeared without her cell phone and wallet.
The family, as well as Kaddik's friends, believe that she was kidnapped by a mysterious criminal, and after two weeks without any trace of her, serious concerns began to arise for her life. "It's very inappropriate for her to disappear like that out of nowhere, I'm shocked. We're all shocked," said Kaddik's best friend.
However, in recent days, reports have begun to emerge that the millionaire businesswoman was under investigation by a government body, and was scheduled to appear for a legal hearing regarding a series of suspicions attributed to her that have not yet been permitted to be published.
Her husband, Anthony Colletti, appeared at the hearing in her place and during it, revealed that she had been missing. On the judge's advice, Colletti reported her disappearance to the police more than a day after she left her home.
Stuart Thomas, a senior investigator with the Bondi Police, commented on the developments in the case so far in a conversation with the Australian Daily Mail: "We are not ruling out any possibility at the moment and are examining every conceivable line of investigation. The scope of the investigation is very broad. Almost two weeks have passed and we are very concerned about her condition. The family members continue to cooperate with the investigators and are dealing with the situation bravely. Finding her is our top priority.".
A source familiar with the investigation said that shortly before her disappearance, police raided Kadik's home as part of the investigation. He added that, very strangely, all the security cameras in her luxury home were not working at the time of her disappearance.
Police are continuing to scan footage from neighbors' security cameras, as well as those placed on the streets around her home. A local police officer spoke to the Daily Telegraph and confirmed that there is a suspicion that the kidnapping story is a cover-up.
""Maybe she just doesn't want to be found," he added.
As of now, there is still no sign of Kadik.
