Due to a technical fault: The website of French public radio has featured about a hundred obituaries about famous figures around the world, even though all of these figures are still alive.
Have you been suffering from depression lately? Are you eligible for National Insurance?’
The obituaries, which were apparently prepared as a "lily file," were for, among others, Queen Elizabeth II of England, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, actors, soccer stars, and more.
According to Channel 7, the radio station RFI explained that a "technical malfunction" caused the erroneous and embarrassing announcement.
The station apologized in a tweet on Twitter: "We apologize to everyone involved and to those who follow us and trust our reporting. We will do what we can to fix this serious bug.".
The obituary for Queen Elizabeth reads: "The United Kingdom woke up orphaned this morning. Buckingham Palace has officially announced the death of Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen celebrated her 94th birthday on April 21, 2020.".
'A 'Havatzelet file' is the information prepared in advance in media systems, in preparation for the passing of a state figure. 'Havatzelet files' are also prepared in advance for figures from the fields of culture and entertainment, and are used in the broadcast schedule upon their passing.
