Health Minister Yuli Edelstein said today (Monday) in a discussion in the Corona Cabinet - which convened to discuss the next steps that are expected to be taken in accordance with the morbidity data, including increasing fines and opening street shops - about the fines outline: "Either we will stand by the steps we set for ourselves or we will listen to the Corona deniers who are making attacks and saying that the lockdown is not working.".

Edelstein added: "We are at a crossroads. If we don't enact the law quickly regarding enforcement, then we are creating a situation where the wicked are good for him and the righteous are bad for him. People will say, if everyone is allowed, then so am I." Later, the Corona Cabinet approved the increase in fines for violating the restrictions. Aryeh Deri voted against. At the beginning of the discussion, the person in charge of the fight against Corona, Prof. Roni Gamzo, warned about the trend that is emerging in the general infection rate of the population. According to a report in Israel Hayom, in a presentation presented during the meeting, it appears that with regard to the latest trends in the infection rate, there is an increasing trend in the general R, after the average for the entire population exceeded the 0.8 mark. Prof. Gamzo presented data according to which the infection rate (R) increased in the past week from 0.7 in Phase 1 of the easing of restrictions to 0.8. The week before the easing began, the R was 0.6. He also noted that the infection rate in the Arab sector is on an upward trend and currently stands at 1.05. Prof. Gamzo said during the cabinet meeting: "A continued increase in the infection rate is expected in light of the opening of the stages so far. Only partial progress is expected." Regarding the gradual opening, he emphasized: "It will not be possible to lower the infection rate again without increasing testing to identify latent morbidity, increasing public responsiveness, and more extensive enforcement and treatment of local closures in hotspots.".
