The Ministerial Committee for Declaring a 'Restricted Area' approved this evening (Tuesday) the proposal of the Ministry of Health and the Commissioner for the Fight Against Coronavirus, Prof. Roni Gamzo, to cancel the declaration of the cities of Bnei Brak, Elad, Beitar Illit and Modi'in Illit, as well as the neighborhoods of Matersdorf, Ma'alot Dafna and Ramat Eshkol in Jerusalem as a 'restricted area' - in light of the improvement in morbidity data.
These cities and neighborhoods join the settlement of Rechsim, which was removed from the list of restricted areas last night.
The decision came into effect upon its publication in Reshumot.
In this way, in effect, only the Ramat Shlomo neighborhood in Jerusalem will remain under the restrictions of declaring a 'restricted area'.
Meanwhile, Prof. Roni Gamzo held a briefing this afternoon on developments in the fight against the coronavirus and the exit from the holiday lockdown.
""All sectors are seeing a decline in the number of confirmed cases and the rate of positive tests," Gamzu said. He added: "We continue to review the data every day, the situation is still good.".
Gamzo addressed the situation in the Haredi sector: "The ministers decided to release the cities of Beitar Illit, Modi'in Illit, Elad and Bnei Brak from lockdown. We are exiting the situation of red cities, but that does not mean that this is a tranquilizer. We are examining each city, also for the percentage of positive tests and the doubling rate. At the peak, most cities had high doubling rates.".
Regarding coronavirus tests, Prof. Gamzo said that the policy on the subject will change, and that anyone will be able to be tested for coronavirus, even without a referral from a doctor.
In the briefing, Gamzo also referred to the outline for shortening the isolation period and noted that in order to shorten the isolation period, one must be tested on the third day of exposure to the confirmed patient, and subsequently after 10 days.
Upon receiving negative results for the coronavirus, the person tested will be able to be released from isolation. "In the coming days, we will update the computer systems and the new outline for shortening the 14-day isolation period.".
