Maran Hared Kanievsky and Maran Rosh Yeshiva Hared Edelstein are publishing this evening (Wednesday) a letter of instructions for the holiday of Sukkot - distributed by the Haredi Desk at the Ministry of Health - according to which care should be taken as much as possible to hold prayer services in the open space of the courtyards.
The Elders of Israel also state in their letter that "hosting is not permitted" and that "wearing a mask is mandatory.".
And so it is stated in the letter under the title 'The Opinion of Our Rabbis':
A. Synagogue collectors will see to it that during these days, as much as possible, there are opportunities for prayer groups in the open spaces of the synagogue courtyards, etc., and all those who can assist in this in other places will be greatly rewarded.
B. During all the days of the holiday of Baal Taw, guests should not be invited to meals and the like, and those at risk, including the elderly who will live to see the end of the holiday, should be very careful to remember to have a zakah with them.
C. One of the things that really protects against infection when you are among people is wearing masks, and their benefits are very great and should not be taken lightly.
D. One of the daily blessings of the holiday of Sukkot is joy, and each and every one should increase their joy during the holiday, and they should do things that will make their family and children happy and create a pleasant atmosphere in the home.
E. In times of trouble, it is for Jacob and others who observe all the rules of effort, the obligation to believe and trust in God, who is the leader and overseer, and no one will be harmed by the virus unless it is announced from above, and we will take advantage of the days of the Asif festival of the Baal Tov, to strengthen faith.
6. The most important of all, Torah protects and heals, and we must strengthen ourselves by studying Torah, and by the power of Torah we will be saved from every illness.
