Another attack in the Jerusalem area: An Arab stabbed a security guard at the entrance to Ma'ale Adumim, moderately injuring him. The incident occurred a short hour ago. An Arab arrived at the checkpoint at the entrance to the city of Ma'ale Adumim, carrying a bag. A security guard standing at the checkpoint asked him to show the contents of the bag. The Arab then stabbed the security guard with the knife inside the bag. The security guard, about 60 years old, was moderately injured and was evacuated by MDA forces to Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital, and transferred to the operating room. The Arab started running. Despite his injury, the security guard tried to chase him, and even shot at him, but the stabbing man managed to escape from the scene towards the nearby village of Azaria, in a vehicle that picked him up. Large forces of police and Border Guard began searching the area for him. A police car that followed the vehicle into the village stopped a taxi that was suspected to be carrying the terrorist. Three passengers in the taxi were taken for questioning. The commander of the Shi'ite District, Superintendent Kobi Cohen, updated on the details of the incident: "A Palestinian arrived with a bag, and the security guard asked to check him. There was a knife there and the Palestinian stabbed him in the upper body and got into the car. A police force that was near the area stopped a taxi that matched the description of the vehicle in which he fled, and arrested two suspects inside the taxi and another suspect who was standing next to it." The police would like to emphasize that we are in sensitive times from a security perspective, thousands of police officers and Border Guard soldiers are currently deployed, at peak levels, in hotspots throughout the country, with an emphasis on the Jerusalem area. The police ask the public to be vigilant and to report any unusual events.
