Deputy Minister of Transportation Uri Maklev announced today (Wednesday) in the Knesset plenum that his ministry intends to provide public transportation services to the beaches - as long as they are open, due to the Corona restrictions.

Deputy Minister Maklev, who answered questions from Knesset members, began by answering a question from MK Eliyahu Baruchi regarding the change in route of bus line 100 departing from Modi'in to Jerusalem from Route 443 to Route 1.

Deputy Minister of Transportation Maklev explained that the main purpose of these service lines is to bring workers to employment centers and government offices in the capital as quickly as possible. The change resulted from work on Highway 1, and now that the project is complete, the lines have been returned to their original route, as extending the route via Highway 443 will significantly increase the travel time.

The Deputy Minister of Transportation announced that in light of demand, an additional express line will be allocated that will travel from the Shilat junction on Route 443 directly to the government offices - while line 113 from Modi'in to Jerusalem will change its route so that it becomes a express line to employment centers, and will have all the advantages of express lines.

He then answered additional questions from members of the Knesset.

The Deputy Minister of Transportation informed MK Azoulay, who asked about the reinforcement of the lines to the beaches this season, that as long as the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of the Interior allow the beaches to open, the Ministry of Transportation will operate public transportation to these places and will increase it if necessary.

The Deputy Minister said that an investigation conducted at the ministry also revealed that the public travels to these places late at night, after dark, and we are also paying attention to these travelers.
