Financial collapse of hospitals: Ichilov Hospital has placed eight doctors on unpaid leave in the past month and a half and frozen their licenses, Kati Dor reported on Kan News.
Ichilov Hospital reported that the doctors were placed on temporary leave, and expressed hope that it would be possible to return them to work after the hospital regains financial balance.
Hadassah Hospital will pay salaries for the month of July without transferring the associated payments, such as health insurance, national security and income tax. The hospital's CEO, Professor Ze'ev Rotstein, said that the hospital does not have a budget for medications for the month of July.
Laniado Hospital will not pay 40% from providers.
Government and public hospitals are on the verge of financial collapse due to debts resulting from loss of revenue in the hundreds of millions of shekels during the coronavirus outbreak.
Earlier this month, the Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Health, Professor Itamar Grotto, told the State Audit Committee that the budget additions will help the health system cope in the short term, but not in the long term.
Grotto noted that all the staffing added due to the crisis is temporary, and that the ministry has not yet received approval for permanent standards. "I have not been able to generate enough interest in public health. Brothers and sisters, labs and more - all are behind in terms of standards, pay and attention.".
