A 19-year-old woman who had contracted the coronavirus died today (Saturday) at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem. The hospital reported that the young woman suffered from serious underlying illnesses that included pulmonary hypertension and heart failure, with extreme excess weight to the point of difficulty moving. It was also reported that upon admission to the hospital, the young woman immediately required a ventilator. She was connected to a heart-lung machine and after about a week and a half of maximum treatment, she died. There is also a high probability that due to the viral load, and the need for prolonged resuscitation from the moment of her admission, a number of staff members who treated her became infected. They were located and isolated as required. Yesterday, the Ministry of Health updated that the death toll from the coronavirus had risen to 314. The Ministry of Health also updated that 400 confirmed cases of infection with the virus were discovered in the 24 hours between Thursday and Friday. The number of active patients stands at 5,614, including 46 in serious condition and 28 on ventilators. 28 on ventilators are hospitalized in hospitals across the country. The number of recoveries is 16,872. About two weeks ago, the late Oshri Assulin, 26, died from a rare complication of coronavirus. After contracting coronavirus, he recovered, but later, as his medical condition deteriorated, he tested negative for the virus. After being connected to a heart-lung machine, his death was determined to be cardiac in nature.
