This is what silencing the 'enlightened left' looks like: The editor of the opinion section of the New York Times newspaper announced his resignation yesterday (Sunday).
The reason: He received sharp criticism for publishing an opinion column written by Tom Cotton, a Republican senator from Arkansas, calling for the military to intervene in the riots in the country.
The column sparked a wave of criticism from the newspaper's employees, and the editorial team finally decided to remove it from the website with the ridiculous claim: "It did not meet the minimum conditions for publication.".
President Trump took advantage of the uproar in the media hostile to him and tweeted: "The New York Times silenced the excellent article by the great Senator Tom Cotton. The New York Times is Fake News.".
Senator Cotton himself responded in an interview on Fox News: "The New York Times initially defended the article in a public statement, but then gave in to a bunch of 'enlightened' kids in their newsroom who were offended and traumatized every time they encountered someone with a different opinion than theirs, instead of telling the 'enlightened' kids that this was a workplace, not a social justice seminar on campus.".
