All second-grade children at the Talmud Torah 'Darachei Yosher', located in the Brachfeld neighborhood in the city of Modi'in Elite, went into isolation this week - after the results of a test conducted by one of the students in the class on the eve of Shavuot came back and it turned out that he was a carrier of the virus.
The child from the TAT was placed in isolation – but Clalit refuses to test him
One of the children in the class, a member of a large family whose parents received a phone call from the Talmud Torah administration, was also placed in isolation. It is important to emphasize that the child sat next to the sick child for three days, morning and afternoon, and then returned home.
In light of this, there is a reasonable chance that he was infected and perhaps passed on the virus.
However, while his mother asked to have him tested, the Clalit health insurance company refused. The mother spoke to two doctors: one said it made sense to do it but the insurance company wouldn't approve, while the other doctor said it didn't make sense to do the test.
This is in contrast to other health insurance companies that invited the families of the children in the class to be tested – with some of the companies even allowing all family members to be tested.
Only following the announcement in Haredim 10 was the child summoned today at 1:00 PM for an examination.
We spoke with the manager of one of the box offices in the city.
Did they also test family members who have a child in isolation, or only the child who came into contact with a coronavirus patient? We asked.
""We did the operation yesterday only for the Talmud Torah children from the child's class or those who wanted to do it for more children. We went door to door.".
If a mother wants to do this for all her children at home, does the fund finance it?
""It's a matter of the doctor's discretion and most people give permission. Today I was an orderly in our lab. There were two large families. I have no idea what they told the doctor - but he gave them permission to test.".
