
Egyptian Minister of Antiquities, Khaled El-Anani, visited the Elijah the Prophet Synagogue in Alexandria yesterday (Friday) - ahead of its opening next month.
The Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities announced that the minister toured the site to closely monitor the renovation work at the synagogue that was recently completed.
According to a report in Kan News, the cost of the renovation was close to 15 million shekels.
Renovation work at the synagogue began about two years ago.
The synagogue was first built in 1354 and was bombed during Napoleon's invasion in 1798.
In 1850 it was rebuilt.
