Nahal Brigade Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Uri Gorodin, said today (Tuesday) that Nahal Brigade fighters were able to locate most of the tunnels in their sector.
""We have located most of the tunnels. In terms of completing their mapping and destruction, we will get there soon," Gordin explained in a briefing for the media on the Gaza border.
Gorodin added that since the operation began, the IDF has succeeded in severely damaging the terror infrastructure. "We are fighting fiercely and strongly, the families of the fighters have much to be proud of. This is a group that is managing to eradicate Hamas in its entirety and destroy tunnels intended to harm civilians.".
During the briefing, the brigade commander revealed that Hamas had tried to kidnap a soldier but was unsuccessful. Hamas has no advantage up close and therefore prefers fighting from a distance, Gorodin said. "I want to offer my condolences to the families who paid the price. We have quite a few casualties and two deaths and I am sorry for each of them," the brigade commander explained.
Gorodin also said that "we are at war and in war the other side is also fighting. The brigade is hitting many terrorists and much of the organization's infrastructure. The Nahal fighters are fighting fiercely. This is a group that is managing to eradicate Hamas and also hit and destroy tunnels.".
The Nahal Brigade did not harm the civilian population, the brigade commander said, noting that Hamas is trying to prevent civilians from leaving the combat zone because it understands that it is its shield. "Fortunately, the civilians understood the truth and evacuated.".
