A checking account is the most basic product in the banking system, used by every customer in Israel. As the leading bank in the country, Bank Hapoalim sees itself as obligated to offer this basic product at an affordable price for everyone. Therefore, the bank has decided to launch an expanded route that it will price at a significantly lower price, in a move that will save customers tens of millions of shekels a year. The combination of a reduced price, a wide national distribution, technological leadership with a variety of advanced channels on mobile, online and more, make the bank's expanded current account route the best product of its kind in the entire banking system.

""The current account is a basic product in the financial management of every household and small business," says Zion Keinan, CEO of Bank Hapoalim. "The move we are announcing today is consumer news that allows every private customer, household and small business to receive current account services in clear and transparent channels, tailored to their needs and at responsible and attractive pricing. For years, Bank Hapoalim has had the lowest current account fees among the major banks, and we see a commitment to continue leading in professional, advanced and innovative banking services.".

Keenan added: "The Supervisor of Banks, Mr. Dudu Zaken, has been leading a move in recent years to reduce fees, and their rate has indeed decreased significantly. We, at Bank Hapoalim, have decided not to be satisfied with the supervisor's guidance, but to significantly expand it for the benefit of consumers and launch various routes at low prices that have never been seen before at the large retail banks.".

Following the Supervisor's announcement of a basic checking account track costing 10 shekels, Bank Hapoalim today announces An extended route, including 10 clerk transactions and 50 transactions via direct channel, for only 22 shekels. The value of this package, with maximum utilization, currently stands at 132.5 shekels per month. The new route will be offered to customers from April 1.

Two broad audiences will benefit from this move. The first is the household audience: An analysis conducted by Bank Hapoalim shows that young couples aged 30-40, with two salaries, pay an average of more than NIS 30 per month to manage a current account. It should be noted that the figure published by the Bank of Israel – an average current account cost of NIS 13.9 per month – includes students, young people, soldiers and other populations who do not pay current account fees at all, and is therefore not relevant for most households.

The second audience that will benefit from the new track are small businesses, which currently pay an average of 57 shekels for managing a current account. Bank Hapoalim decided to make the discounted track available to this population as well, in accordance with the bank's perception that small businesses are the backbone of the economy and that they should be made easier with new tracks tailored to their needs, at an attractive price.

In addition, new current account tracks from the "Poalim UP" series will be launched, offering flexibility, customization to the customer's needs and the possibility of achieving significant savings in fees. All "Poalim UP" tracks include 10 clerk transactions and 50 transactions in the direct channel per month, plus additional services for the customer to choose from: Active UP (a service that performs automatic transactions on the account, according to the customer's definition), Smart UP (a service that allows all current charges to be centralized for a fixed date per month) or UP card (a card loaded with money that can be transferred to family members from the age of 14). These tracks will be offered at an attractive price of 32 shekels per month.
