Some see a connection between the two: Broadcasting Authority employees were called to prayer on the fast day of Tammuz, in which they will mark, alongside the beginning of the siege of Jerusalem, the intention to close the Broadcasting Authority and open another authority in its place.
In a statement published today (Sunday) by the Broadcasting Authority under the title "Important Notice," it was stated that "17 Tammuz - a day of fasting for the beginning of the siege of Jerusalem. In these days, when the Knesset is supposed to vote on the closure of the Broadcasting Authority, we employees of the Broadcasting Authority are fasting and praying for the siege of Jerusalem, for the people of Israel, for our soldiers, for the Broadcasting Authority and for the livelihood of its employees.".
The workers were called to meet this coming Tuesday at the management building in Shaare Zedek, "in the synagogue (meeting room), for the recitation of psalms, prayer, and Torah readings from rabbis and public figures.".
The invitation was signed with the words: "Repentance, prayer, and charity avert the evil of judgment.".
The Broadcasting Authority declined to comment.
