I wasn't there on 3rd Tammuz 5754. I didn't cry. I certainly didn't dance. 3rd Tammuz didn't affect me beyond the usual knowledge that in a certain Hasidism the Rebbe had passed away. After all, every community has its own Rebbe. I too belong to a Hasidic community, I too have a Rebbe.
Years have passed, twenty years. And the 3rd of Tammuz is no longer a day. In the sense of "I am not a day.".
3rd Tammuz 5774, twenty years. Twenty years of "Yatir Mebhiyohi" as stated in the Holy Zohar [83:2], "When a righteous man dies, I will forget everything in this world, Yatir Mebhiyohi," meaning that the righteous man is present after his death in this world even more than he was while he was in a physical body in this world.
3rd Tammuz is not a day of longing for me, I did not see the Rebbe, my parents also opposed him, the community also spoke against him. And in general, I do not know if longing for the past has a place in the Rebbe's teachings, whose entire course is forward. Every moment the question is asked anew, from here and now how do you fulfill the role that the Creator has assigned to you? And immediately you do, "because the deed is the main thing.".
The 3rd of Tammuz is the day the Rebbe was freed from the shackles of body and place. Everyone has the opportunity to approach the Rebbe at any time, to study a treatise in 5712, to hear a conversation in 5744, a letter from 5727, a gathering in 5752, to connect with the Rebbe, to follow in his footsteps.
The 3rd of Tammuz is the day when I was also able to understand that this person simply believes in me as a person, and sees himself and me as part of the elements of the world, and more than that, "a part of God from above." Each in his role and mission, and as if face to face, I feel free to turn to him, to approach his teachings, knowing that he wants to illuminate the path for me to fulfill my mission in the world.
3rd of Tammuz is the day when I reconnect with what the Rebbe believed, demanded, demanded, and also motivated each and every one of us to recognize and understand that each and every one of us has a personal role and a special mission in the world. Higher powers, to turn darkness into light and bring the world to a better state at any time and in any place.
3rd Tammuz 5774 On this day, the people of Israel painfully accompanied the young men, may God avenge their blood, in the face of human beings who kill life, and trample on the sanctity of life and the values of life. Each and every one of us adds light in every field, whether spiritual or physical.
Each of us sanctifies life and brings the world to a better, more noble, and more valuable place. Together we will bring redemption soon, Amen.
