The funeral of the three martyrs - Gil-Ad Sha'ar, Naftali Frankel and Eyal Yifrach, which lasted longer than expected due to the arrival of thousands of people at the cemetery in Modi'in, was also attended by the orator and Maggid of the Righteous, Rabbi Aryeh Shechter.

After a long stay in the scorching sun, and with the beginning of the Prime Minister's speech, the rabbi began to make his way out of the cemetery. However, due to the collapse of the transportation system, it was not possible to leave with vehicles along the entire length of the route leading from the cemetery to the exit from the city of Modi'in.

Police officers standing by a vehicle about two kilometers from the cemetery compound noticed the rabbi walking slowly. One of the officers turned to Rabbi Shechter and explained that the long distance he had to travel to get out of town, at his pace, would take more than two hours. The rabbi thanked him and turned to sit on a stone by the side of the road.

Then unexpectedly, without the police knowing who the man was or what his status was, they approached him and offered to let him get into the police car, where they would turn on the air conditioning for him so he would feel better.

Rabbi Schechter accepted the offer. After sitting down and drinking water, he told them that he wanted to bless each of them personally, listen to the problems they presented to him - and give them wine. In this way, he said, he would repay them for the kindness they had shown him. And indeed, policeman after policeman they approached the rabbi and received his blessing. There were policewomen who stayed to consult with the rabbi and received his advice, blessing, and help.
