On the occasion of the 70th Independence Day of the State of Israel, President Reuven Rivlin recorded navigation instructions for drivers on the Waze app.
According to a report by Uria Elkayim in Kan, the president recorded the instructions during a visit to the company's Israeli headquarters in Tel Aviv. The set of instructions in Rivlin's voice will be available to users starting on Independence Day, which falls on Thursday this week - for a week.
The new explanations for drivers were laced with humor, with Rivlin announcing, among other things, upon starting to use the app: "Since I am the president, I am not the driver.".
When a hazard is reported on the road, the president reports: "Oh, my God! Hazard reported later." When an object is discovered on the road, Rivlin's voice announces: "Object on the road ahead, I will immediately inform the Minister of Transportation.".
""Any technological solution that helps Israeli citizens venture out onto the beautiful roads of our country and discover new, charming corners makes me happy," said the President. "The most exciting projects in my opinion are those that bring together groundbreaking Israeli innovation with our tiny country, where behind every path lies a story. I hope that together we will help every citizen to enjoy their independence with joy and, most importantly, with caution.".
To configure the voice accompaniment of the President of the State on Independence Day and the days following, go to the Settings >> Voice Instructions >> Hebrew section in the Waze app and select the voice "Honorable President".
