A forum for the deputies of the 'Torah Flag' was established: The municipal department of Degel Hatorah convened over 20 deputy mayors from Degel Hatorah at the Degel Hatorah House in Bnei Brak. The gathering was attended by the movement's Knesset members Gafni, Maklev and Asher, and Rabbinical Committee member Rabbi Natan Zuchovsky.
The purpose of the forum: to discuss and clarify a range of municipal and general issues.
The director of the municipal department and deputy mayor of Bnei Brak, Menachem Shapira, explained the purpose of the gathering, emphasizing the great power to sanctify the name of God and assist the institutions of Torah, charity, and your people, the House of Israel, by uniting all the forces of the Torah banner in every city, and when all the representatives in general and the deputy mayors in particular are connected together, the power of influence to assist and care is much greater.
Rabbi Zuchowski, a member of the Rabbinical Committee of the Torah Banner, said: "When we speak to representatives of the Torah Banner, the definition is 'then we will speak, O God', this knowledge that you are not individual representatives but general representatives who represent the great men of Israel, and in this you are holding the banner of the Torah." He continued his remarks: "The Torah wants us to know that in every era and period there are the great men of Israel, the elders of the generation, whose light we must follow." In his remarks, he noted that "in the decrees of 18 and 19 and the burning of the wagons in France, there were those who came with claims of the Lord concerning the laws of the Torah, therefore it was determined in the question of a dream that the fast would be determined in the arash of Parashat Hukat, to teach us that 'this is the law of the Torah' and there is no exception.".
Later in the conference, Degel HaTorah MKs Moshe Gafni, Uri Maklev, and Yaakov Asher spoke about the importance of the unity and activity of the representatives as public representatives in general and as representatives of Degel HaTorah in particular, who are tested by their actions as a party that represents the great men of Israel at every step.
During the meeting, Knesset members expressed solidarity with former Jerusalem Mayor Uri Lapoliansky, who is currently at the center of a public uproar over the distorted verdict against him, and noted that this is one of the only times that even the general press and legal experts side with him against the verdict. "We stand by him, hoping and praying that he will succeed in his appeal.".
Coverage was later heard from the deputy mayors of various cities in the country, and it was determined that the forum would continue to meet regularly and in the near future, and would discuss municipal issues related to the movement's representatives, as well as general issues of the representation of Degel Hatorah in the national arena.
