The Ark of the Covenant was captured: Rosh Yeshiva Ma'alot HaTorah, Rabbi Auerbach, passed away at the age of 87 on Shabbat night.

In recent years, after the passing of the late Rabbi Elyashiv, he became the leader of the "Yerushalmi faction" and, as part of the public struggle with the Lithuanian public, founded the journal "Hapeles", where its editors expressed his positions.

The Grand Master felt unwell on Shabbat night and told his close friends about it. Later, he suffered a heart attack.

His associates called an emergency team who attempted CPR for half an hour, at the end of which his pulse returned.

The yeshiva head was taken to Shaarei Tzedek Hospital, but there his body collapsed again. The doctors performed CPR again for 40 minutes, in the presence of his brother, Rabbi Azriel Auerbach, and Benny Fischer, CEO of Magen Lahola - but unfortunately they had no choice but to declare him dead.

The news of the yeshiva's death spread through the streets of the Jerusalem neighborhood of Sha'arei Chesed in the morning, and crowds gathered in shock around his house.

United Hatzalah reported that on Saturday night, a call was received at the United Hatzalah emergency center that Rabbi Auerbach had lost consciousness. Volunteer doctors from United Hatzalah arrived at the scene, along with a United Hatzalah ambulance team, and worked for a long time in an attempt to save his life.

Dr. Adam Balin, a volunteer physician at United Hatzalah, said at the end of Shabbat: "We performed prolonged CPR in an attempt to save his life, and then, when an intensive care unit arrived, he was taken to Shaare Zedek Medical Center when his pulse returned. At the end of Shabbat, we received the bitter news of his passing.".

The late Harrish left no descendants.

The funeral procession will leave tomorrow morning (Sunday) at 11 a.m. from the Ma'alot HaTorah Yeshiva. He will be buried on Mount Hanumanuch alongside his wife, Rebbetzin Rachel.
