Members of the Haredi factions in the Jerusalem Municipality decided to schedule a weekly halakhic class in Safra Square.
The initiative came from Council member Yitzhak Pindros, who suggested in the municipal WhatsApp group to establish the class; after a lengthy discussion, which included many suggestions about the material to be taught in the class, it was decided to begin with the laws of Shemitah, which is imminent.
The first lesson took place last night, with the participation of many of the assistants and members of the municipality. Even Deputy Mayor Yossi Deitch came to participate.
The lesson was presented by the Maggid Shiur Yitzhak Pindarus, and it opened with the laws of the seventh Tosefet.
The lesson quickly moved on to current issues, when Pindarus, who holds the Shefa portfolio, raised a question about planting idle and ornamental trees on Shmita Eve, and brought about a dispute between the Chazon Ish and Gershaz Auerbach. In fact, Pindarus 'ruled' that the Jerusalem Municipality used to be strict about this, and as the ruling of the Rishon LeZion, the Rabbi Yosef.
At the end of the lesson, the participants offered a prayer for the release of the three hostages.
