Surprise celebration: The family of the kidnapped Gil-Ad Shaar celebrated last night the birthday of the police officer who has been accompanying them since the beginning of the kidnapping affair.
Last night, Eitan Madmoni, who accompanies the family, turned 52 - and father Ofir decided to celebrate his birthday with a surprise, as a token of gratitude.
The children of the Talmon community volunteered for the mission, baked a delicious chocolate cake - and blew up balloons.
Ravid Sharon, the settlement's spokesman, told about the diversionary operation carried out on Madmoni: "I told him that I needed to check with him something about the police officers' locations, and that's how we got him out.".
Madmoni left the house, and the signal was given: the children began to sing to him. As they sang, Deputy Minister Ofir Akunis joined in, who had just returned from a visit to the Shaar family home, while the painful signs hung around him: "Bring back our children" and "Brothers, come back.".
Madmoni said: "I have no words to describe the feeling and the excitement. I was not included in the celebration and I can say with certainty that this is the most exciting celebration I have had in my life since I was a child.".
