In a discussion in the Knesset Education Committee regarding the budgets of youth organizations and informal education, with the participation of the heads of youth organizations, including the Batya movement, Degel Yerushalayim, and many other organizations, MK Yaakov Asher thanked Education Minister Shai Piron for his decision to support youth organizations.
Several months ago, the youth movements blocked the paths of the Batya movement, and in joint activity with the Ministry of Education, a solution was found by including the Batya movement within the framework of youth organizations.
MK Asher added that he usually does not compliment members of this government, and certainly not representatives of Yesh Atid who have carved their flag to tattoo the Jewish identity of the country. But this time he went out of his way and said that since he believes in informal education and youth organizations, he is happy that Education Minister Piron is also a partner in this, and places youth organizations as a high priority in the Ministry of Education.
Asher asked the committee to provide support to the Ministry of Education to continue increasing the budgets of youth organizations in Israel.
""I hope," added MK Asher, "that the Minister of Education will reverse his scandalous decision at the last minute regarding the exclusion of ultra-Orthodox education students from funding summer camps for state school students, and that a way will be found to budget for the summer activities of schools from the ultra-Orthodox sector.".
