Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu opened the weekly government meeting this morning (Sunday) with reference to the expected visit of US President Donald Trump.
""The State of Israel will be honored in two weeks to host US President Donald Trump and his wife on his first trip as president outside the US," Netanyahu said. "The president will be received here with great warmth and as a great friend of Israel, as befits the leader of our great ally, the US.".
He said, "The president wants to examine ways to renew the peace process with the Palestinians. I share this desire and the citizens of Israel share this desire. We want peace and we also educate our children for peace.".
""I heard Abbas praise terrorists and pay them according to the severity of the murders they committed against Israelis. I heard Abbas say that the Palestinians educate their children for peace as well. Unfortunately, that is simply not true," Netanyahu noted.
Netanyahu referred to the passing of Rabbi Benny Alon, the late: "At the end of the week, former Minister Benny Alon, the late, passed away. On behalf of the Israeli government, I would like to send condolences to Eman, their children, and the entire Alon family. Benny loved the Land of Israel, the State of Israel, and the heritage of Israel and did much for them. Benny also worked to strengthen ties with Christians who love Israel around the world.".
""I would like to convey the condolences of the entire government and also mine to Minister Aryeh Deri on the death of his mother, the late Esther. We share in his grief and the grief of the entire Deri family.".
