The kidnapped Eyal Yifrach, 19, from Elad, a student at the Shavei Yeshiva in Hebron, previously posted statuses on his Facebook account that called for prayers for the kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit.
In June 2011, about four months before Shalit's release, Ifrach wrote: "Five years Gilad has not hugged his mother. Five years Gilad has not heard his father. Five years Gilad has not read a book. Five years he has not smelled a flower. Five years Gilad has not laughed. Five years Gilad does not know what evil will come upon him tomorrow.".
To conclude, Yifrach added: "If you care about him, and Gilad's return home is important to you, spend five seconds copying and pasting the status. Gilad, we miss you and hope you come back soon!""
This was not the last time that Ferah sought to raise awareness among his friends about the kidnapped soldier.
Two months later, in August 2011, he wrote again on Facebook: "There are those who travel to Eilat and write: 'Come on, you've been crying for five days.' There are those who write: 'Come on, Italy for ten days.' But think for a moment! What should Gilad Shalit have written? A prisoner? Don't know when he's coming home? Guys! G-l-a-d-s-l-i-t is still alive! We don't lose hope! And every day we pray to God that he will bring him home safe and sound! If you have a heart and Gilad Shalit is important to you, copy this status and like it... because Gilad is still alive.".
