The colorful professor Amir Hetzroni announced his support for Amir Peretz for the leadership of the Labor Party - and the party panicked • However, he explained: "Let there be no illusion that I have any respect for Amir. What is there to respect in a kebab lover?" • "He is not particularly smart, he is not an educated man. I do not know at all whether he has a full degree, and he does not even know how to use binoculars""

Is Amir Hezroni on the road to politics?

The colorful professor, who often speaks out against Zionism, Judaism, and against Mizrahi Jews, posted a photo on Twitter and Facebook in which he is seen holding a Labor Party membership form in one hand and a poster of MK Amir Peretz in the other - with the caption: "Amir Peretz - New Voices in Labor.".

In a post he published, the controversial professor explained what led him to take the step: "Why did I run for the Labor Party today, and why do I support Amir Peretz? Let there be no illusion that I have any appreciation for Amir. What is there to appreciate in a kebab lover with elementary school English, who doesn't even have a college degree?" If it were up to me, Amir Peretz and his ilk would be left to rot safely in Morocco, but the demographic reality cannot be changed. It would be better if the Levantine mentality remained in the Levant, and instead of people shouting "Ku-lu-lu" and enthusiastically banging on the darbuka songs by tax evaders whose last name rhymes with "Meretz," only people who speak politely, pay taxes legally and play Chopin would live here - but that won't happen anymore. "The left has failed again and again in elections, because instead of running with a popular leader who will speak to the people in their language, we insist on politicians with doctorates from Colombia like Erel Margalit, first-rate lawyers like Bozhi Herzog or a girl like Shelly Yachimovich who has written a book or two. "I have nothing against doctors (I am a professor, as you know) or writers (I have also written), but the elections are decided by the residents of the development towns whose last book they read was a first-grade alphabet. They vote right-wing and we are stuck with the occupation. "If the question were who is interesting to have an intellectual conversation with, Amir Peretz would be the last option. Talking to him about the essence of life is like talking to a Yarkan about quantum mechanics - but unfortunately, Yarkans who vote for Likud and Shas also participate in the elections. To get their votes, we need Amir Peretz - with all the pain that entails.".

Amir Peretz, who is running for Labor Party leadership, did not like the professor's support, to say the least - and wrote: "This is probably a bad joke. But it turned out to me that this dark racist published a (disgusting) post in which he explained that he did indeed function for the Labor Party and that he intended to support me. I contacted the party's Secretary-General, Eran Hermoni, and demanded that he act to prevent Hezroni from joining and to disqualify her.".

Party chairman Yitzhak Herzog was quick to announce following Hetzroni's announcement that he would work to ensure that the man is not appointed to the party's ranks, and MK Itzik Shmuli also announced that he would fight for his joining: "We will submit a demand to the party institutions not to accept him into its ranks; there is no place for belligerent, dark, and inciting racists, and certainly not in the social camp.".

So, Prof. Hetzroni, are you on your way to politics?

""I am not running for the Knesset, at least not right now. What is true is that I served under Amir Peretz. I would be happy to participate in his campaign, and if he chooses and offers me a position in the media field – a field in which I think I am suitable to fill a role – I will respond positively.".

""It's important for me to emphasize, I'm not particularly enthusiastic about Amir Peretz, he's probably the last politician I'd want to sit down for a beer with, he's not particularly smart, he's not an educated man. I don't even know if he has a full education, and he doesn't even know how to use binoculars.".

""But he is Moroccan, and Moroccans vote for Moroccans, the development towns will vote for him, and hence only through him can the government be changed.".

You don't like Moroccans.

""If it were up to me, they would stay in Morocco. But in the current situation, to come to power and replace Bibi, you need Amir Peretz, who is Moroccan. He is the donkey of the Messiah now.".

Did you read what he wrote about you?

""Yes, if he thinks I'm choosing him because of his ideology or because of his opinions, he's dreaming dreams of aspemia, although I'm not convinced he knows what 'aspemia' is. I'm choosing him because he's Moroccan and he's the only man through whom the government can be changed.".
