The prosecutor in the court, David Crane, told the news agency that ""Twenty indictments have been filed against war criminals in Syria," he added, adding that they are "looking for crimes against humanity committed by both sides in Syria, both the government and the rebels." He said the indictments are supported by photos published in January by a Syrian army photographer, which clearly show the torture suffered by detainees in Syrian detention camps. He reported that prosecutors claim that such photos cannot be faked.
Legal experts doubt whether the criminal proceedings being taken against Syria at the International Criminal Court in The Hague will prevent further bloodshed in the country.
