This week, the world marks 78 years since Kristallnacht, the night when hundreds of synagogues across Germany were set on fire and burned.

To mark the occasion, a historic cantor concert took place last week in Berlin on the most important stage in Europe - the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra Concert Hall, with the participation of cantors Nathaniel Hershtik (USA) and Avrimir Kirshenbaum (Israel), accompanied by the JAKOBSPLATZ Orchestra conducted by Maestro Daniel Grossman.

The hall, which is also considered one of the best in terms of its acoustics, was designed by none other than conductor Herbert von Karajan, one of the greatest conductors of the twentieth century, who was a member of the Nazi Party and promoted by Nazi Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels as a musical 'wonder'.

Cantor Netanel Hershtik says: "When God brought back Zion, we were like dreamers... to perform in the first cantor concert in the Berlin Philharmonic Hall, planned and initiated by a member of the Nazi Party, in the week of Kristallnacht. There are no words to describe the magnitude of the victory of Jewish culture, the one that survives all the pogroms, inquisitions, persecution and hatred.".
