Unpleasant: Mark Zuckerberg, founder of the successful social network, experienced an embarrassing event in the past 24 hours, when his accounts on Twitter and Pinterest were hacked by strangers.
According to a report by Yaniv Avital, a technology expert, hackers managed to gain control of several of Zuckerberg’s social media accounts. The Twitter account of the hacker group called OurMine Team wrote, “Hey @finkd (Zuckerberg’s Twitter handle), we managed to gain access to your Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest.
""We're just checking your security, send us a message"; in response, the hackers tweeted to themselves from Zuckerberg's account: "You failed, get out of here, script kids.".
It turns out, says Avital, that one of the most important people in the world and the one responsible for the security of all of our most sensitive personal information made some rookie mistakes, which cost him his accounts.
The first mistake is using the same password for multiple accounts. About a month ago, hackers uploaded a file with more than 117 million passwords for LinkedIn accounts dating back to 2012. Because LinkedIn did not encrypt the passwords at that time, anyone could have access to the passwords and tried their hand at hacking into these accounts.
Zuckerberg, who used the same password for his social media accounts, thus allowed hackers to gain access to his Twitter and Pinterest accounts as well.
Another mistake: According to the attackers, Zuckerberg's password was dadada, which indicates another mistake because it does not include a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters and numbers. Another mistake is that despite the long time that has passed since he chose the password, he has not bothered to change it.
