President of the Shas Council of Torah Sages, Chacham Shalom Cohen, lit the bonfire in the plaza of the Porat Yosef Yeshiva in the Old City, in honor of the divine Tanna Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai. After the lighting, the Rosh Yeshiva delivered a sermon on the merits of the Rashbi.
