Apparently, all good things must come to an end. Want more overwhelming proof? You'll soon start receiving promotional messages on your WhatsApp.
According to a report by The Information website, the instant messaging application, which belongs to Facebook, plans to allow business customers such as banks, airlines and other businesses to send advertising messages to users later this year.
According to the report, the service will likely initially be limited only to customers who have enabled this option in the application.
Later, it was reported, the company may allow messages to be sent in richer formats, which would include designed 'cards'.
In January, WhatsApp announced that it would drop the 99 cent annual fee that some users had been required to pay. At the time, it had already hinted that it would explore ways to generate revenue from the app's nearly one billion users, which would allow businesses to communicate with users.
