The Knesset committee headed by MK David Bitan decided that starting January 1, every Knesset member will be entitled to an additional parliamentary advisor.
In doing so, the committee did not accept the public committee's recommendation to examine the issue with the help of an organizational consultant.
""Not everything needs to have an advisor appointed," said committee chairman MK David Bitan, who initiated the decision. "When they decided on the new structure in the Knesset, they didn't bring in an organizational advisor because it was clear and agreed that this was a reality requirement. Give us some credit too. Saying that the organizational advisor will finish his work within two months is not serious.".
The Parliamentary Advisory Committee welcomed the decision of the Knesset Committee Chairman: "The role of advisors to members of Knesset is to improve and streamline the accessibility of elected officials to their constituents. We are confident that introducing a third advisor to the chambers will greatly advance the activities of members of Knesset.".
""Public inquiries, legislation, external relations, studying materials for committees, and more require time and investment, and therefore an additional advisor will streamline the work in the chambers. This will be another step towards representing the public interest.".
