Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Reuven Rivlin met this morning (Friday) at the president's residence in Jerusalem.
This is the first meeting between the two personalities after more than two months of separation.
In their conversation, the two discussed the security situation in Jerusalem, recent political developments, and other issues.
The Prime Minister's Office reported that President Rivlin and Prime Minister Netanyahu met today at the Presidential Residence for a routine update meeting. The two discussed the regional political situation as reflected in recent developments, as well as the vigorous anti-terrorism activity.
At the meeting, the Prime Minister and the President agreed to continue to maintain regular updates as has been done so far in order to work together to address the challenges facing the State of Israel.
In early September, Rivlin said that he and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had not spoken for two months, even though according to protocol, the president and prime minister are supposed to meet at least once a month.
In an interview he gave to Galei Tzahal on the occasion of Rosh Hashanah, the president said: "I regularly see the prime minister face-to-face once a month, but in the last two months we have not been able to meet. It seems to me that we have exhausted our differences of opinion in everything related to our relations with the various international systems.".
