Mark Zuckerberg, founder of the world's largest social network, revealed last night (Tuesday) that Facebook is developing another button through which users will be able to respond in a more diverse way: for example, also by "disliking" posts.
Zuckerberg held a Q&A event with users at the company's headquarters in California, telling them that over the years, Facebook executives have realized that users want to express additional emotions besides those expressed by the "Like" button.
He cited the refugee crisis in Europe as an example of a situation where users sought to express the sadness they felt at the sight of harsh images depicting the human suffering endured by migrants, as well as a situation where posts about deceased relatives were uploaded. "In that case," Zuckerberg said, "the word 'like' doesn’t represent what users are feeling.
"""It's important to give users several options, besides the 'Like' button, to help them express empathy and sympathy. Not every moment is a good moment," he added.
Regarding when the new feature will be launched, Zuckerberg said that it may take time. ""I think people have been waiting for this button for years. Today I can say that we are working on it and promoting it.".
